Classical music has been a very important part of my life. At the Pre-Prep ‘Stepping Stones School’ I attended from the age of four to eight, the morning always started with Bach’s ‘Sheep May Safely Graze’. But I inherited my love of music primarily from my grandfather, who studied music at Cambridge in the early 1900s, and was an accomplished pianist, though never a professional one. Click on the following link to hear a recording I had made of Charles Wood’s setting of Walt Whitman’s ‘Ethiopia Saluting the Colours’. This is a song about slavery in the US.

Other music that my Grandfather often played can be heard in preview by clicking on the links below. Some of the links are to whole albums of music of the kind my Grandfather enjoyed. All of this music is deeply ingrained in my mind.

God Be With You Till We Meet Again (Randolph), with music by Ralph Vaughan Williams.
